Make yourself at home

A few practical steps to keep your reading and your notes together.

Open a PDF

Open your notebook and choose Open PDF. Select a PDF from your device. On a desktop, Ctrl+O (⌘O on Mac) opens the file picker.

Try the sample PDF first to explore the tools without selecting a personal document.

Add your thoughts

Choose the pen to write or draw, the highlighter to mark a passage, or a text box to type a note. Use the eraser or undo when you want to change a mark.

Use the page list to move between pages, reorder them, and choose pages to share. Check the PDF preview before exporting.

Save an annotated PDF

Use Save as to download a PDF containing your annotations. Ctrl+S (⌘S on Mac) also saves on a desktop. If you choose a save folder in Settings and your browser supports it, exported PDFs can be saved there.

Your editable notes also save automatically in local browser storage. A downloaded annotated PDF and an editable notebook backup serve different purposes: keep both when you need to preserve your work.

Back up and restore editable notes

Use Export backup in Settings to download a .nangman-note.json file with original PDFs, annotations, page order, and document details. Open any cloud-only documents on your device first so their original PDFs are available.

In the destination browser’s Settings, choose Restore backup and select the file. All documents are validated before they are added as new notes, without overwriting existing notes. Restored notes are local and do not import sign-in or sync identity. Review the restored list before deleting your original copy.

Backup files contain your documents and annotations. Treat them as private files. A backup is stored wherever you choose to save it; exporting a backup does not itself upload it to cloud storage.

Know where your notes live

Guest notes are kept in this browser on this device. Another browser, a private browsing session, or a different device does not automatically have those notes. Clearing site data can remove local notes.

Local storage is not separately encrypted by Nangman Note. Protect your device and keep independent backups. Automatic saving is useful while you work, but it is not a substitute for a backup.

About account sync

Sign in with the same Google or Naver account you used before to access your cloud notes. Sync sends saved PDFs and annotations to Cloudflare storage. Select existing local documents for sync; new or edited documents while signed in become background sync candidates.

Sign-in and sync need a server connection. If a sync error appears, keep your local copy and retry when the connection returns. Check the app’s sync status before relying on another device’s copy.

Need a hand?

Share the browser or device you use and what happened. Do not send passwords, login codes, or a private PDF to explain an issue.
